Brakes are the one system where 'good enough' has a hard failure mode. Stock brakes on a heavy, powerful car will boil standard fluid in two hard laps — the pedal goes long, then goes away. On the street, worn rotors and old fluid stretch stopping distances you only find out about in an emergency. Matching the brake package to the car's speed and weight is basic safety.
